Q– When and where is the State Small Business Convention this year?
A– The convention will be held at the Hilton Rialto Place in Melbourne Beach on
Friday and Saturday May 20 and 21, 2016.
The convention begins Friday, May 20 at 6:00pm for event sponsors and
exhibitors with a ribbon cutting and formal Red Carpet Reception and lasts until 9:00pm. On May 21 the exhibition area will open for sponsors and exhibitors from 7:00am to 10:00am for set up. The convention opens to the public at 11:00am and ends at 3:00pm.
Q- What is provided for vendors and sponsors in the exhibition area?
A– Each vendor will have a 6’ ft. long table with white skirting and 2 chairs provided. No power strips or extension
cords will be provided, but there will be WIFI available for anyone that needs it.
Q– What should I bring for my vendor table other than business materials?
A– Each vendor must bring at least one $25+ value raffle gift to raffle at your table. You also need a jar or fishbowl
for names of raffle participants (a great way to get contact information on potential clients). Each vendor should
also bring a table banner or sign to identify your brand. As we anticipate a very large crowd, bring lots of business cards both to network and to hand out to the public.
Q– What are the lanyards I have heard about?
A– All vendors and sponsors will be identified by a lanyard that will be handed out at the Red Carpet Reception Friday night. This will help you distinguish participants (possible business contacts)
from the public (possible business clients). The lanyard is also your pass to early (7am) entry to the event for set
up. You will also be given a Certificate of Participation showing you attended the event during the Convention.
Q– It sounds like there will be lots of giveaways at the convention. Do I need to provide bags for the public?
A– Prepared to give each a sponsor’s tote bag to each attendee to carry all of their swag. If you have a bag you use as marketing, feel free to give that out as well, but it is not necessary.
Q– What can I do to make the event as effective as possible?
A– Share this event with your network of friends, business colleagues, and clients. Use Facebook, Linkedin and
other social media to get the word out so everyone has a great opportunity to meet new people and share experiences.
Q– Will there be food at the event?
A– While some vendors may have snacks, the Hilton Rialto Place has a great restaurant and you can purchase lunch there at your own expense.
Q– Will we be able to stay at the hotel for the duration of the event?
A– We have a special SSBC convention discount at the Hilton Rialto Place for convention attendees. Simply call the Hotel and ask for the discount room rate and mention the discount code “Small” for a luxury room for $114 + tax.
Q– What is the appropriate attire for the events?
A– The gala Friday night is formal attire – NOT Florida formal, but actual formal attire. You will want to dress to impress and you look your best when you are interviewed by the SSBC’s spot reporter. One-on-one interviews will be conducted as well as promotional clips for use on your website. We suggest you wear your best professional
garb on Saturday at the exhibition portion of the event. There will be lots of potential clients and other business owners to network with and we want you to look your best & be your best!
Q– Will there be any larger drawings other than the $25+ gifts at each table?
A– There will be a grand prize drawing at the Red Carpet Reception Friday and another grand prize drawing Saturday afternoon ($300 visa gift card each).
Q– What time does the Convention end?
A– The exhibition area will close to the public at 3pm Saturday. All vendors and sponsors MUST wait until after that time to begin breakdown. We want all participants and attendees to share the same experience regardless of
what time they arrive.
